The umbrella body of maritime journalists in the country, the Maritime Reporters Association of Nigeria (MARAN) is rallying round the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) and the Nigerian Shippers Council (NSC) to champion a sustainable logistics for the nation’s seaports.

To this end, the Managing Director of NPA, Ms. Hadiza Bala Usman and the Executive Secretary of NSC, Mr. Hassan Bello are billed to attend the MARAN one day talk shop on how to develop a sustainable logistics for effective port system and administration in the country.

In a statement signed by MARAN Secretary General, Mr. Bayo Bernard, the association said the talk shop with the theme; “The Prospects and Challenges of Logistics Services as the Life-Wire of Nigerian Maritime Sector” is to create “a viable platform for vibrant discourse by industry stakeholders and other interested parties.

According to the association, the talk-shop will be chaired by the immediate past president of Nigerian Institute of Shipping, Mr. Patrick Egesi.  The one-day talk-shop would have perspectives from terminal operators, logistics providers, regulatory agencies, freight forwarders and customs brokers. Usman and Bello are on the panel of discussion.

The statement added that the event would hold on Tuesday February 27th, 2018 at the International Maritime Press Centre/MARAN Secretariat, 23/27, Wharf Road, Atlantic House, Apapa, Lagos.
