The management of the Quest Media Group, publishers of TransQuest monthly magazine, NewsQuest weekly and its online platformwww.transquestnews.com holds her Transport Development Lecture/Excellence Awards (TDS/TDEA 2018) this Saturday.
A statement signed by its Editor-in-Chief, Mr. Felix Kumuyi and made available to Maritime Bits said the event which is the eleventh edition will take place in Airport Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos.
This year’s event with the theme: “Nigeria’s Transport/Maritime Sector–Is an Effective Intermodal Transport System Achievable in Nigeria?” will parade seasoned speakers with full audience participation as Professor Bamidele Badejo of the Department of Geography and Regional Planning, Olabisi Onabanjo University, a renowned transport expert/lecturer is expected to do justice to the topic as the main guest speaker. Similarly, the Colonel Hameed Ali (retired) led Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) will be addressing the audience on the topic: “The place of NICIS II in ensuring an effective Inter-modal Transport System”.
In the same vein, some heads of maritime agencies such as Ms Hadiza Usman Bala, Managing Director Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA); Mr. Hassan Bello, Executive Secretary/CEO, Nigeria Shippers’ Council (NSC); Dr. Dakuku Peterside, Director General, Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) are expected to give their perspectives on the main topic as it affects their respective operations while inspirational speaker, Babatunde Fajimi will speak on “Role of SMEs in developing the Transport Sector.
While the Kanwan Katsina III, Katsina Emirate, Alhaji Usman Kankara Bello is expected to be the chairman of the occasion, the Minister of Transport, Mr. Rotimi Ameachi will be the special guest of honour.
According to the statement, the event will also witness an award segment of different categories which is meant to give honour to those who deserve it in our own little efforts and contribution at being appreciative of those that have excelled in their respective fields and areas of specializations. This is aimed at spurring them on and to further step up their present momentum as a sign of recognition and encouragement.
