The Managing Director, Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Mr. Mohammed Bello Koko has thumb up the Port Manager, Lagos Port Complex (LPC), Apapa, Mr. Charles Okaga for the strides he has made since his appointment.

Describing Okaga as a “competent administrator”, the NPA boss pat him on the back for having concern about the welfare of his staff.

Koko stated this at the maiden Employee Quarterly Merit Award and Retirees Appreciation Day organized by the management of LPC in Lagos recently.

The NPA helmsman who was represented by NPA Executive Director, Marine and Operations, Hon. Onari Brown, commended Okaga for deeming it fit to celebrate its employees.

According to him, the quarterly merit award would spur greater productivity at the LPC which remains Nigeria’s premier port.

Speaking at the occasion, Okaga said the maiden Employee Quarterly Merit Award and Retirees Appreciation Day was meant to reward hard work, dedication and the indomitable spirit of its workforce.

He stated that the award was initiated to recognise the outstanding contributions of LPC staff, reward their excellence, innovation and dedication to work.

According to him, the award was anchored on some criteria including punctuality, dedication to duty, creativity and adherence to established dress code. It is meant to motivate the employees to work harder and enhance productivity in the government agency It is also aimed at appreciating  retired workers of the port for the wisdom, experience and significant contributions they made to the system while in service.

He argued that it was important to recognise and appreciate hardworking employees in order to boost their morale and encourage them to reach new heights of success.

The highpoint of the occasion was the unveiling of the Employee Quarterly Merit Award for July – September 2023. He is Mr. Michael Emmanuel of the Corporate and Strategic Planning Division.

In the same vein, retired workers including Shehu Zakari Dauda (Procurement), Ohizu Bernard (Fire Service), Fulani Samuel (Harbour), Ejiogu Charity (Health), Igwe Oluchi (Human Resources) and Ogboto Edwin (Engineering) were also honoured at the occasion.
