It is heartwarming to have you all gathered here. Global Transport Policy (GTP) was established in 2022 with a clear corporate intersection: a tripod that integrates an international, industry-specific bilingual biannual compendium, a world-class training academy, and a consulting and advisory arm designed to deliver long-term transport strategies for sustainable growth. From day one, our mission has been to beam a searchlight on all modes of transportation — maritime, aviation, road, rail, and pipeline — because no single mode can unlock Africa’s trade potential alone. The numbers tell us why: intra-African trade currently sits at just 15–22% of total trade, compared to 60% in Europe and 40% in Asia. Logistics costs in Nigeria alone are estimated at roughly 25% of GDP, with freight, logistics and inefficiencies reaching up to 45% of total trade value — versus 5–10% in more efficient markets. Multimodality is not a buzzword. It is the difference between trade that crawls and trade that scales.
This vision has come to life through three powerful engines: First, GTP Magazine, our bilingual biannual compendium, catalogues global trends, innovations, challenges, and solutions across all transport modes. It provides holistic analysis and stakeholder engagement, serving governments, investors, researchers, and practitioners with authoritative trends potting and cross-cutting policy perspectives. It is not just reporting — it is a tool for shaping workable policies and investment decisions. GTP TV extends our voice into visual storytelling, amplifying critical conversations and bringing transport issues from boardrooms to the public square. It will interest you to know that we have also just been licensed for independent television and radio programming. Second, with a global faculty of eminent transport professionals and astute industrialists, GTP Academy offers exceptional solutions for industry players. Through our Training Academy, we close the skills gap in the ecosystem delivering cutting-edge insight and disruptive transport architecture to corporate champions and policy gatekeepers. We are also working on strategic partnerships to enable the needed leap in terms of impact and outreach.
Third, our Projects and Consultancy Services arm delivers expert policy formulation, strategic project execution, and turnkey management of transport infrastructure projects. We work with governments, private sector stakeholders, and institutions to craft policies that address both current needs and future demands.
Our executive team brings over 100 years of cumulative experience across transport, media, logistics, and project management. This depth allows us to move from theory to delivery, from dialogue to results. Our current mission is bold: to make the Global Transport Policy Annual Multimodal Roundtable the premier platform in Africa for integrated transport policy and investment. Next year, we are expanding the table to bring in the European (EU), World Bank, African Union (AU), United Nations (UN), AfCFTA, IFC, AFC, and more. We are also introducing exhibitions to move beyond talk and into transformative action — showcasing technologies, financing models, and projects that connect road to rail, port to hinterland, and sky to market.
We cannot do this alone. Multimodality requires collaboration. We are issuing a call for strategic partnership — with institutions, development partners, private investors, and industry leaders who share our conviction that integrated transport is the backbone of AfCFTA and Africa’s industrial future. Impact must also be inclusive. This November, we will host Women in Transport, a signature event that amplifies the mandate of GTP and gives visibility to the women driving transport, policy, and innovation across the sector. Empowering women in transport is not a side agenda — it is central to building a resilient, equitable, and high-performing industry. And through our Catch Them Young Student Career Summit, we are engaging the next generation. We are opening doors for students to see transport not just as a job, but as a rewarding career path that builds nations. We are working on planting seeds for a talent pipeline that will sustain this sector for decades.
Global Transport Policy was built to be more than a magazine or a training provider. We are a movement for multimodal integration, policy clarity, and investment activation. From bilingual journalism to executive training, from consultancy to convening, we are shaping the future of transport in Africa. But transformation does not happen by accident. It happens when vision meets partnership, when data meets decision, and when conversation leads to construction.
