All is now set for the Maritime Reporters’ Association of Nigeria (MARAN) maritime annual lecture (MAMAL) slated for Thursday November 21, 2024.

It is scheduled to take place at the prestigious Providence Hotel, GRA, Ikeja, Lagos with maritime stakeholders, and professionals in attendance.

The much-anticipated MAMAL with the theme “AfCFTA: Dismantling Trade Barriers, Navigating Regional Trade,” promises to provide in-depth insights into Africa’s free trade agreement and its implications for regional and global commerce.

The President of MARAN, Mr. Godfrey Bivbere in a statement made available to Maritime Bits, said MAMAL will provide a platform for key stakeholders, policymakers, and experts from across the maritime and trade sectors to discuss strategies for maximizing the opportunities presented by the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA).

While the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Alhaji Adegboyega Oyetola as the special guest of honour will deliver a keynote address, underscoring the Federal Government’s initiatives and commitment to dismantling trade barriers and fostering a competitive blue economy.

Other dignitaries expected to attend MAMAL include Chief Olusegun Awolowo, Secretary, AfCFTA Nigeria; maritime expert and former Acting Managing Director. National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), Chief (Mrs.) Chinwe F. O. Ezenwa, renowned maritime expert and former Managing Director, National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA); and the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Centre for the Promotion of Private Enterprise (CPPE), Mr. Muda Yussuf; Comptroller-General of Customs, Alhaji Adewale Bashir Adeniyi.

According to the statement, participants can look forward to engaging discussions, expert-led panels, and robust deliberations on how Nigeria and other African nations can fully capitalize on AfCFTA to enhance trade competitiveness, attract foreign investment, and boost economic growth. MARAN encourages all maritime stakeholders, and interested members of the public to attend this critical industry event as attendance is free.
