All is now set for the 2020 edition of the annual workshop on maritime arbitration in the country.
The virtual one day workshop is being organized by the Maritime Arbitrators Association of Nigeria (MAAN) which has Mr. Adewale Jones as its President.
Two key topics germane to maritime arbitration in the country would be discussed at the workshop expected to attract participants from the maritime industry and beyond.
The topics are “Key Challenges in Investment Treaty Arbitration in Developing Countries – Best Practices in Maritime Arbitration to the Rescue”, by the visiting professor and fellow, Centre of International Law Studies (CILS), Salzburg, Professor Ike Ehiribe and “Maritime Arbitration in Nigeria: Challenges and Expectations for the Future” by a Lagos base author and legal practitioner, Mrs. Jean Chiazor Anishere.
The Foundation President of MAAN, Mrs. Adedoyin Rhodes Vivour, SAN is expected to be the chairperson of the workshop scheduled for 11 am prompt on November 18, 2020.
Since its establishment over the years, MAAN has been organizing workshops on maritime arbitration and alternative dispute resolution (ADR) as a way of sensitizing the citizenry on the benefits of effective maritime arbitration in the country.
These workshops are meant to create awareness and enlighten the public, especially stakeholders in the maritime sector of the economy.
Maritime Bits checks revealed that the organisers decided to make this year edition a virtual workshop as result of the Covid 19 pandemic protocols as enunciated by the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).
While participation in the workshop is free, Jones in a public notice obtained by Maritime Bits said interested participants are expected to register by sending an e-mail to [email protected]
