Have you ever get scared of being excited?

Like genuinely scared to let yourself be happy?

You hear that you got the job. Or the deal finally went through. Or the thing you have been praying and hoping for has finally happened.

And for a moment, you jump. You smile. You exclaim. You want to call someone and scream for joy. Then suddenly you pause. “It is not real. And if I laugh too much, the good news might spoil.” So, you catch yourself. You readjust. Put on your poker face. Put down the phone. And return to seriousness.

Because somewhere, somehow you have convinced yourself that after every good thing comes chaos. So even when something beautiful happens, you are already preparing for what could go wrong. Already imagining the disappointment. Already feeling the pain.

But if you are so capable of imagining yourself crying the next minute, what is stopping you from believing you could still be smiling?

Maybe good things do not need to be followed by disaster. Maybe every good thing that happens to you does not have to mean disappointment is lurking nearby.

So, when something good happens, try not to rush into panic mode. Smile first. Celebrate first. Let the good thing breathe.

See you next week.
