Nigeria’s second busiest seaport, Tin Can Island Port Complex (TCIP), Lagos now has a new substantive Port Manager. He is Mr. Sylvester Othuke Egede.

Egede’s appointment by the management of Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) as the new helmsman of TCIP followed the retirement of the former Port Manager, Mr. Jubril Buba. Since Buba’s retirement in November 2023, Mr. Akin Leoso has been acting as the Port Manager.

Maritime Bits checks revealed that Egede is coming on board with vast experience that he has gathered from various aspects of port operations over the years.

It is on record that prior to his appointment, Egede was the Traffic Manager, Lagos Port Complex (LPC) Apapa, Lagos which remains Nigeria’s largest and busiest port.
