Following his appointment as the Port Manager, Onne Port Complex, Rivers State, Prince Gangtim Cirdap Zhattau has assumed duty.

Zhattau’s appointment was sequel to recent changes of guards in several positions in the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) which has its corporate headquarters in, Marina, Lagos.

With his emergence as the new helmsman, Zhattau has made history as the 16th Port Manager of Onne Port Complex since after its establishment in 1992.

In his maiden meeting with the Heads of Department (HODs), Zhattau called on them to emphasise on hard work, team work, mentorship, effective communication and strong collaboration among the different HODs.

Maritime Bits checks revealed that Zhattau hails from Langtang in Langtang North Local Government Area of Plateau State.

A statement issued by the Onne Port Complex, Head, Corporate and Strategic Communications, Mrs. Barbara Ejemeh Nchey-Achukwu said after his early education in Langtang, he attended Government College, Keffi. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree (BA Hons) in Public Administration at Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria between 1987 to 1990. He also holds a masters degree in Transport Planning (MTP) from Lagos State University, Lagos.

According to the statement which was made available to Maritime Bits, he has served for over 30 years in NPA, rising through the ranks. He served as Terminal Manager Kirikiri Lighter Terminal (KLT), Lagos, and Terminal Manager, Calabar Port. He also served as Personal Assistant (PA) to Port Manager, Lagos Port and PA to General Manager, Western Port Operations respectively.

Continuing, the statement said in 2020, he was appointed Traffic Manager, Onne Port Complex, a position he held until recently, when he became its Port Manager.

Zhattau has attended national and international courses and a member of several professional bodies. Apart from being a chattered member, Chattered Institute of Logistics and Transport of Nigeria, he is also member, Nigeria Institute of Shipping (NIS).

He is a recipient of several awards on account of his excellence in global logistics and supply chain management, contributing to the organizational growth of NPA and the Nigerian economy.

He is married with children.
