The District Head of Ketare, Kanwan Katsina, Alhaji Usman Kankara Bello has hailed the Federal Government for setting up a Free Trade Zone (FTZ) in Funtua Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The royal father gave the commendation when he hosted the Managing Director of Nigeria Export Processing Zone Authority (NEPZA), Professor Adesoji Adesugba and his entourage to a dinner in his private residence in Katsina.
Adesugba who was on an official visit to Katsina State to interact with the state government on arrangement for the take up of the Funtua FTZ was a 1982 course mate of the monarch when he was still serving in the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS).
Bello averred that establishing the FTZ will boast socio-economic activities of people and provide job opportunity to teeming youths of the state.
He used the occasion to advise Adesugba to strengthen the legal framework both at state and federal level to ensure continuity and sustainability of the project.
Adesugba in his response expressed delight for the warm reception accorded him and his entourage by his former colleague in the NCS.
He revealed that there are two projects slated for Katsina State which include the Funtua FTZ and the Katsina Medical Tourism Park.
The Managing Director said the NEPZA team has interacted with the Katsina State Government team on the take-off of the Funtua FTZ and land has already been provided for the project.
Adesugba who was happy to be in Katsina for the second time said he had served as the officer in-charge of Federal Operation Unit of the NCS during his career.
