Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Acting Customs Area Controller (CAC), Port and Terminal Multi-services Limited (PTML) Command, Deputy Comptroller Nura Ibrahim Miko has tasked the new leadership of Customs Officers’ Wives Association (COWA) on their roles and responsibilities.
While commending them for the strides they have made since the establishment of the association, especially in their contributions to family stability and welfare, Miko enjoined them not to rest on their oars in the task ahead.
The Acting CAC stated this at the command headquarters, Tin Can Island Port (TCIP), Apapa. Lagos recently at the formal handover of COWA PTML Chapter to its new Chairperson, Hajiya Nabila Nura Miko.
Describing the occasion as more than a change of leadership, he noted that it reflected the association’s commitment to continuity, service, and the well-being of families in NCS.
The Customs Chief used the occasion to praise the immediate past leadership of the association in the command led by Mrs. Ifeoluwa Anani for the successful execution of projects that positively impacted members and the wider NCS community.
He maintained that COWA’s most significant contribution extends beyond physical projects to the support it provides on the home front to enable them perform effectively at work.
His words: “While officers are engaged in revenue collection, trade facilitation, and anti-smuggling operations, our wives ensure that our homes remain stable, peaceful, and productive. A stable home is the foundation of effective service delivery, and for that, we remain grateful.”
The Acting CAC also felicitated with the new Chairperson of the PTML Chapter, Hajiya Nabila Nura Miko just as he expressed confidence in her ability to build on the achievements of her predecessor and take COWA to a greater height.
He also reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to supporting COWA’s activities, describing the association as a strategic partner in promoting the welfare of officers and their families. He assured members that the Command would continue to provide necessary support within its capacity, including logistics, facilities, and moral support, to ensure the success of the association’s programmes and initiatives.
Miko further acknowledged the leadership of the National President of COWA, Mrs. Kikelomo Adewale Adeniyi for her efforts in strengthening chapters across the country and advancing the association’s objectives.
The Acting Chairperson of COWA, PTML Chapter expressed gratitude to the command’s management and members of the association for their cooperation during her tenure.
She said she was handing over the mantle of leadership with a sense of fulfilment and confidence in the incoming Chairperson while pledging her continued support for the new administration.
The highpoint of the occasion was the offering of prayers for wisdom, unity and a successful tenure for the new leadership as it begins a new phase in the life of COWA, PTML Chapter.
