Stakeholders in the maritime industry have indicted interest to participate in the forthcoming breakfast meeting initiated by the umbrella body of journalists covering the maritime industry in the country, the Maritime Reporters Association of Nigeria (MARAN).
The event which is slated for March 7, 2024 at Rockview Hotel, Apapa, Lagos is expected to attract participants from far and near, especially stakeholders in the maritime sector of the economy.
The stakeholders that have indicated their interest to attend include the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Nigerian Shippers Council (NSC), and the Trucks Transit Parks (TTP).
Other participants are the Barge Operators Association of Nigeria (BOAN), Lagos State Cargo and Transport Committee (LASTCOC) National Association of Road Transport Owners (NARTO) Nexus Association of Maritime Transport Operators (NAMTOP), Council of Maritime Transport Union and Associations (COMTAU), and the Association of Maritime Truck Owners (AMATO).
Also expected to attend are the operators of the various truck holding bays licensed by NPA as well as the Export Processing Terminals (EPT).
The breakfast meeting is expected to dwell on the electronic call-up system otherwise known as Eto. It will also provide an opportunity for participants to examine the challenges hindering the efficiency of the electronic call system and proffer solutions.
President of MARAN, Mr. Godfrey Bivbere who stated this in a statement obtained by Maritime Bits said everything has been put in place to ensure the success of the event and enjoined port stakeholders to be part of the event.
According to him, MARAN as one of the critical stakeholders in the maritime industry would not relent in championing ideas that will lead to its growth.
