As stakeholders in the maritime industry look forward to the much-anticipated Maritime Reporters Association of Nigeria’s (MARAN) Annual Maritime Lecture (MAMAL), it has been confirmed that the Executive Director, Operations and Technical, Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited Captain Warredi Enisuoh will deliver a paper titled: “Crude Oil Theft in the Gulf of Guinea Region: Emerging Threats and Actionable Steps – Perspectives of Operators the epoch making event.
As a former Director in the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) and season expert, Enisuoh is expected to give an insight on the paper besides enumerating the challenges operators face in their day-to-day activities in the Gulf of Guinea (GoG).
He is also expected to join other stakeholders in the maritime industry to provide comprehensive and sustainable solutions to maritime crimes in the region.
It is on record that Tantita as one of the private security contractors of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited and has been responsible for checkmating crude oil theft in the region is a key sponsor of MAMAL 2023
The annual lecture is scheduled to hold on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at Rockview Hotel, Apapa, Lagos.
Among those who confirmed their attendance are President of Maritime Security Providers Association of Nigeria (MASPAN), Mr. Emmanuel Maiguwa; former President of the Association of Nigeria Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA), Prince Olayiwola Shittu; and the Secretary of the Customs Consultative Council (CCC), Mr. Eugene Nweke.
In the same vein, the President General of the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN), Comrade Adewale Adeyanju, former Minister of Interior and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Integrated Oil and Gas Limited, Captain Emmanuel Ihenacho, and the Chairman, Board of Trustees (BOT), Nigeria Indigenous Ship Owners Association (NISA), Chief Isaac Jolapamo have also confirmed to attend the lecture which has “Maritime Security: Emerging Threats and Actionable Steps,” as its theme.
The lecture is expected to provide comprehensive and sustainable solutions to maritime crimes in the GoG.
MARAN which remains the umbrella body of journalists covering the maritime sector of the economy said in a statement signed by its President, Mr. Godfrey Bivbere that the lecture will focus on protecting seafaring and fishing communities in affected countries.
According to Bivbere, the collaborative efforts of NIMASA and other maritime agencies have significantly reduced piracy in Nigerian waters and the GoG throughout 2022. The Gulf of Guinea Maritime Collaboration Forum for Shared Awareness and Deconfliction (GOG-MCF/SHADE) has played a pivotal role in fostering regional cooperation and yielding tangible results in addressing piracy.
