The former Minister of Interior, Captain Emmanuel Ihenacho; the first ever female Director General and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Mrs. Mfon Ekong Usoro; Chairman, Starzs Investments Company Limited, Engr. Greg Ogbeifun; and the Senior Partner of Olisa Agbakoba Law (OAL), Dr Olisa Agbakoba (SAN) have been nominated for the Maritime and the Offshore Awards (OMIS), 2022.
Also nominated are the Board Chairman of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC), Senator Margery Okadigbo; Managing Director, LADOL, Dr. Amy Jadesimi; Commercial Manager, APM Terminals, Temilade Ogunniyi; CEO, Multimix Group, Dr. Obiora Madu; and the President, Nigerian Maritime Law Association, Mrs. Funke Agbor (SAN).
The Chairman, Charkin Maritime and Offshore Safety Centre, Sir Charles Wami; Founder, Women in Logistics and Transport, Hajia Aisha Ali-Ibrahim; CEO, Ocean Deep Services, Mrs. Macfoy Rollens; and the Executive Director, Sifax Group, Wunmi Eniola-Jegede were also nominated for the award which is expected to attract dignitaries from all walks of life.
The CEO of OMIS, Mr. Femi Da-silva who disclosed this in a statement made available to Maritime Bits said the awardees were nominated by leading voices in consideration of their selfless leadership roles and contributions to the growth of the maritime sector of the economy as well as the oil and gas industry.
He explained that the corporate organizations category include Samsung Heavy Industries, Bureau Veritas, CMA CGM Shipping, Niger Dock, and Sifax Group.
According to him, the OMIS Award which coincides with the International Maritime Day (IMD) which is usually celebrated in the same month is slated for September 24, 2022 at Oriental Hotel, Lagos.
He added that the award would feature exciting side-attractions including an exhibition and panel discussions along the theme of this year’s IMD.
Speaking on the OMIS award, the Chairman, Nigerian Ports Consultative Council, Otunba Kunle Folarin, said: “This highly celebrated event will not only showcase the maritime sector, but also celebrate achievers and highlight the sector’s strategic position in the league of the political economy of the nation”.
