Experts in several fields of human endeavours have counseled youth to make right choices and embrace initiatives that will enable them to fulfill destiny and ensure the sustainable developments of the country.
They averred that the kinds of choices they make as young adults will go a long way to determine how far they can go in attaining their ambitions in life.
These experts include the Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer (COO), MDXi Data Centres, Main One, Mr. Gbenga Adegbiji; the Senior Partner, Versatile Real Sector, Mrs. Abayomi Olarinmoye; and a chartered accountant and partner at PWC, Mr. Olugbenga Adepetu.
They spoke recently at the career development conference tagged “Evolve, new directions fresh perspectives” organized by the Redeemed Christians Church of God (RCCG), Lagos Province 2, Israel Assembly, Ikeja. The conference was organized under the auspices of the Ambassadors, Young Adults and Youth Affairs.
While Adegbiji spoke on “How to Navigate Yourself to Relevance”, Olarinmoye’s paper dwelt on “Building Resilience in an ever Changing World”. On his part, Adepetu in his paper presentation spoke on “Partnering with God”.
They argued that a life without purpose and the pursuit of things that are eternal by young adults will derail Nigeria’s quest to attain sustainable development in the years ahead.
Drawing useful references and insights from the Bible and their personal experiences in life, the experts stressed the need for the youth to take steps that will take them to the desired heights by attaining set goals and objectives.
“You need to partner with God to achieve your goals. You cannot do it alone. No one wins the rat race. This is because it is unwinnable. God is interested in work because He also works. Therefore, you should not be lazy. Redefine your ambition, boss and roles. Pray fervently to be free from the encumbrances of life”, Adepetu said.
According to Adepetu who started life as an engineer, youth should start thinking about their professional designation and designation early enough so as to make hay while the sun shines. Starting early will give you headway among your peers and colleagues no matter the circumstances or situation you find yourself.
The conference which attracted youth from far and near, especially the branches in Lagos Province Two also featured music rendition and special songs to the delight of participants. A female saxophonist, Timisax kept the attendees on the edge of their seats with her performance.
Those who could not attend the conference physically were given opportunity to participate online. The high point of the occasion was an altar call for salvation and the presentation of plaques by the chief host and Pastor-in-Charge of the Province, Pastor Obafunso Ayinoluwa to the three speakers just as the Provincial Youth Pastor, Pastor Olanrewaju Samuel gave the vote of thanks.
