The new Managing Director, Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho has embarked on a tour of Transit Truck Park (TTP) situated in Apapa, Lagos.
The NPA boss tour is to enable him see things for himself and give him first-hand information on the workings of the facility which is being managed by the management of TTP Limited.
The authority in a statement obtained by Maritime Bits stated that the tour also gave Dantsoho an opportunity to know the workings of the electronic traffic management firm.
According to the statement, the NPA helmsman was given a comprehensive tour of TTP operational facility including a firsthand view of truck traffic management at Lily Pond and the real-time CCTV live feed and monitoring systems employed by TTP at its control centre to oversee port gates, terminals and pre-gates.
He was also presented with milestones/impact of the electronic call-up system since inception in 2021 and a video showcasing TTP’s proposed e-tag/RFID innovation which promises to revolutionize the port corridor ecosystem.
This immersive experience highlighted the pivotal role TTP plays in streamlining port operations, enhancing logistical efficiency, and contributing to a more sustainable port ecosystem.
TTP Head of Operations and Dantsoho’s entourage assessed the TTP Control and Command Centre at Lily Pond Terminal and were impressed by TTP achievements.
Apparently impressed by what he saw, the NPA boss commended the company for its innovative solutions and dedication to improving port operations.
He emphasized the need for continued collaboration between NPA and TTP to boost the port community and drive sustainable growth.
He also underscored the necessity for innovation and the adoption of advanced technologies, advocating for a transition to renewable energy to minimize carbon footprints, safeguard the environment, and ensure the long-term sustainability of port operations.
