No fewer than seven suspects allegedly involved in cybercrime has been arraigned by the Nigeria Police Force, National Cybercrime Center (NCC), Lagos Annex.
The suspects were arraigned before a Lagos Magistrate Court Tuesday for their alleged involvement in cyberspace fraud.
The defendants, Bakare Dayo Sherif, Olajire Olaitan, Lawal Toheed Opeyemi, Omiyale Opeyemi, Adeyemi Seyi, Odunlami Lateef, Wahab Olanrewaju Jimoh are standing trial before Magistrate A. A Paul of the Lagos Magistrate Court, Tinubu on a 3-count charge over alleged impersonation, internet fraud and for allegedly obtaining various amounts of United States of America (USA) dollars from a foreigner.
They were brought to court by officers of the Nigerian Police Force and they pleaded not guilty after the charge was read to them by the court Registrar.
It is on record that Bakare Dayo Sherif, Olajire Olaitan, Lawal Toheed Opeyemi, Omiyale Opeyemi, Adeyemi Seyi Odunlami Lateef, Wahab Olanrewaju Jimoh are already standing trial over alleged cybercrime before Magistrate M.E Owumi from year 2022 to 2024 within the magisterial district of the same court.
Magistrate A. A. Paul in his ruling on the bail application brought before the court by the defendants granted them bail in the sum of N1 million two with 2 sureties.
The defendants have been remanded in Ikoyi Correctional Centre and the case has been adjourned till January 15, 2025.
