Another man whose name is yet to be ascertain has plunged into Lagos Lagoon at the Ikoyi-Lekki which connects two highbrows areas of Nigeria’s commercial centre.
This is not the first time some unsatisfied Nigerians had jumped into the Lagos lagoon as an accountant and a medical doctor had in the past lost their lives as they dived into the waters while atop the Third Mainland Bridge which remains the longest bridge in the African continent.
Maritime Bits checks revealed that the incident which occurred on Tuesday afternoon took virtually everyone unaware just as emergency responders made frantic efforts to recover the man from the waters.
Already, the area has been cordoned off by the police to prevent unauthorized persons from getting access to the scene of the incident.
The Lagos State Public Relations Officer (PRO), SP Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed the incident.
His words: “The incident happened truly. Marine Police and the Lagos State emergency officials are here. Efforts are still on to bring out his body dead or alive.”
In the same vein, the Head, Public Education of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Services, Amodu Shakiru also confirmed the incident.
According to Shakiru who spoke on behalf of Margaret Adeseye, Director, Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, we got a distress call at about 2:43 pm and we moved down to the location. There is no update yet.
