Accolades have been pouring in from far and near as no fewer than 40 youths from host communities have been given scholarship by the management of Starzs Investments Company Limited (SICL).
The scholarship was given to the youths as part of the week-long SICL 40th anniversary activities in the Rivers State capital, Port Harcourt.
Managing Director of SICL, Ms. Iroghama Ogbeifun disclosed this while formally flagging off a Special Skills Acquisition and Maritime Education programme in commemoration of the company 40th anniversary celebration.
The SICL helmswoman stressed that the beneficiaries of the scheme cut across male and female gender from the four host communities in line with the firm gender sensitiveness.
Giving an insight into the selection of the 40 beneficiaries, the SICL Managing Director revealed that four out of the 40 slots are granted to the Maritime Academy of Nigeria (MAN) Oron, Akwa Ibom State and the Charkin Maritime Academy (CMA), Ozuoba, Port Harcourt.
Maritime Bits checks revealed that MAN and CMA remain two of the tertiary maritime institutions in Nigeria.
She revealed that each of the schools were given two slots each while the remaining 36 slots would provide relevant vocational training.
