The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Seme Area Command has hailed no fewer than 66 senior officers who were recently elevated promoted by the Nigeria Customs Service Board (NCSB).
The decision to promote officers was sequel to the decisions reached by NCSB at its 63rd regular meeting which took place at the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja recently.
The 66 officers were decorated with their new ranks at the ECOWAS Complex, Joint Border Post (JBP), Seme-Krake. Apparently elated by the development, the Customs Area Controller (CAC), Seme Border Area Command, Comptroller Wale Adenuga congratulated the officers and reminded them that promotions come with both honour and responsibility.
His words: “This promotion comes with humility. It is not a license for pride but a call to greater service. Carry your junior colleagues along. Celebrate with one another. Let us make Seme Area Command the pride of the service”.
Adenuga used the occasion to praise the Comptroller-General of Customs (CGC), Alhaji Bashir Adewale Adeniyi and his management team for what he called “their tireless efforts” in ensuring a fair and transparent promotion exercise.
The CAC emphasized that the command is committed to supporting the CGC, whose leadership mantra is trade facilitation.
The command in a statement signed by its Public Relations Officer (PRO), Mr. I. Sulaiman quoted Adenuga saying that Seme Area Command will continue stakeholder engagements to ensure the border remains the pride of the service and the best in the West African sub-region.
According to Sulaiman, Chief Superintendent of Customs (CSC), Mr. Oreyeni Olufemi spoke on behalf of the decorated officers. He expressed gratitude to the CGC, CAC, senior officers, families, and colleagues even as he pledged that the officers would justify the confidence reposed in them and continue to contribute to the success of the Service. The statement which was made available to Maritime Bits, stated that the joyous event was graced by heads of sister security agencies at the JBP.
These include Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), DSS, NDLEA, NAFDAC, Port Health Service, NAQS, EOD/Anti-Bomb Unit as well as family members and stakeholders. “It was an atmosphere of unity, thanksgiving, and renewed dedication to the vision of NCS”, the statement added.
