As you evolve in life, there are certain practices, though small, you need to start normalising in order to create a stronger foundation for living with clarity and confidence. Here are few you can start with:
· Normalise celebrating yourself in the way you want to be celebrated. Post about your progress, acknowledge your achievements, encourage yourself when you complete a task, and recognise your own effort. Other people may join in, but you should first become the standard of celebration for yourself.
· Normalise asking questions, especially when you do not understand what is happening. Some people may suggest that you are being intrusive or difficult, but that should not discourage you. The more you ask, the more you learn.
· Normalise enjoying your own company. Value your presence, your thoughts, and your worldview. Spend time with yourself, reflect honestly, and allow room for both serious and light-hearted conversations. You do not always need to fill silence with music, films, people, or chores; being alone with yourself can be enough.
· Normalise stating your opinions, even about matters that appear ordinary. For example, say, “I prefer fish,” when everyone else is ordering chicken. Small expressions of preference help you build trust in your own voice.
· Normalise setting boundaries. Be clear about what you can tolerate and what you cannot. If you do not find a joke funny, say so. If you prefer your space to be kept in a particular way, communicate it. If you prefer to speak at specific hours of the day, make that clear. Your boundaries do not require everyone’s approval.
· Normalise talking to God about everything. Speak to Him about your thoughts, concerns, hopes, and feelings. You do not need to wait for a specific time or present yourself in a particular way before approaching Him. He knows everything already, and He still wants to hear from you.
Normalizing these practices helps you in your journey of becoming more self-aware, intentional and confident.
See you next week.
