*Promises Security and Sustainable Development

Ahead of the 2023 governorship election in the country, a former Customs Chief, Mr. Victor David Dimka has thrown his hat into the ring in the race for the number one seat in the North Central State, Plateau.

Dimka who retired as a Comptroller over two years ago was at various times, the Customs Area Controller (CAC), Federal Operations Unit (FOU), Zone A, Ikeja, Lagos; Zone C, Owerri, Imo State; Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Seme Border Command, Seme, among other NCS formations across the country is contesting on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

At the official declaration of his gubernatorial ambition at the weekend in Kanke, the erstwhile Customs Chief who was dreaded by smugglers in his hey days in office, stated that if elected as the governor, he will provide security and unite the people to ensure sustainable development of the mineral rich state.

His words:  “I am a fellow of the Security Institute and I know that security is everything. If you ask me to name three important things; I will tell you that one is security, two is security, three is security. With my experience, I will bequeath a peaceful, united and prosperous Plateau”.

According to Dimka, he has the capacity and experience to make the tourists attractive state an envy of other states in the country if he is elected into office as governor during the gubernatorial election in 2023.

In his remarks at the occasion, the APC Chairman, Kanke Local Government Area, Mr. William Gombwer expressed delight at the array of personalities that are aspiring to be governor of the state on the platform of the party.

According to the APC Chairman, without the gubernatorial aspirants, the APC in the state would not be as strong as it is.

In order to ensure a violence-free electioneering campaign in the North Central State, Gombwer enjoined all the governorship aspirants and their supporters to conduct themselves peacefully at all times.

Gombwer called on all members of the party to team up with whoever emerged as the APC flag bearer in the state and ensure that the party eventually emerges victorious at the polls.

The Director General, David Victor Dimka (DVD) Movement, Mr. Menshak Chindaba said that Kanke had been looking for an opportunity to govern Plateau State in the last 48 years.

He revealed that stakeholders in the area had searched and believed that “Dimka is the most qualified to bring the dream to reality”.

Chindaba also revealed that after Dimka’s retirement from the NCS, many political parties wooed him but after wide consultation, he decided to pitch his tent with the ruling party at the federal and state levels.
