Love is often defined as an intense deep feeling of affection you have for someone or a great interest you have in something. However, love now transcends this simple definition and means different things to many people. To some it is sacrifice. To others, it is chemistry, endurance or commitment. It would also seem that love to some is measured by how tolerant you are or how much of yourself you are willing to let go.
But is love the same thing as duty or endurance?
While duty has its place and is important because it gives a sense of responsibility, love should be intentional not just an obligation. A mistake most people are guilty of is taking expressions of love as love itself. It is beyond the financial contributions, grand gestures, butterflies in the tummy feeling or just enduring someone’s excesses irrespective of how you feel.
Affection is quite easy when things are going smoothly but moments of discomfort reveal love. Love is kind, consistent and trusting even when the chips are down. This is because it goes beyond how you feel in the moment.

Today, I encourage you to choose to show and receive real love. The love that comes with care, peace and support.
