*Onyeka Decorates Newly Promoted Officers
Not less than N159 billion has been rake in as revenue in August 2025 by the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Tin Can Island Port Command, Apapa, Lagos, its Customs Area Controller (CAC), Comptroller Frank Onyeka has said.
Giving an insight into the rationale behind the feat, Onyeka explained that more ideas and innovations have been injected into the command’s trade facilitation drive and fight against smuggling.
Onyeka made this public on the sideline of the decoration of newly promoted officers in the command recently.
His words: “In the month of August, we generated N159 billion. This is an amount we have never achieved before. Everybody here is part of the glory but to whom much is given much expected”.
He attributed the command’s revenue feat to NCS home-made B’Odogwu trade platform which he said will continue to help the service to reach higher heights in trade facilitation and revenue generation.
He commended the media and stakeholders for their support which helped the command in no small way in achieving the milestone.
“I want to encourage everyone to be happy because. I am a happy man myself. Wherever you find yourself, be happy. Appreciate God and count your blessings and name them one by one. Money should not be the main thing but happiness,” he added.
Describing the decoration of the officers as a season of celebrations across every NCS formations, the CAC averred that the ones in Tin Can Island Port Command cannot be an exception.
Among those decorated with their new ranks in an impressive ceremony which took place at the command conference room was its Public Relations Officer (PRO), Mr. Oscar Ivara.
Maritime Bits checks revealed that Ivara was among those promoted to the rank of Chief Superintendent of Customs (CSC) in the command.
Apparently pleased with the promotion of the officers, the CAC expressed delight over the high number of officers who were elevated to higher ranks in the command.
The Customs Chief enjoined officers who were not promoted this year to work hard and wait for next promotion examination.
According to Onyeka, no fewer than 87% of officers of the command who took the promotion examination were promoted. This is a good performance.
Continuing, the NCS, Tin Can Island Port Command helmsman said: “As long as you are promoted it means the work you have done is appreciated. I want to appreciate the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR for acknowledging the contributions of officers”.
