To better manage the evolving complexities associated with the management of a performance-inclined non-governmental organization (NGO) in this fast-paced technology-driven age, MMS Woman of Fortune Hall of Fame (WoFHoF) Initiative has rejigged its Board of Trustees (BoT) and Governing Council membership.
In the same vein, a steering committee has been set up for the MMS Amazons to help drive the vision of mentoring and growing younger women of worth to become formidable and influential in their chosen career paths.
In a press statement issued by the management of MMS WoFHoF Initiative in Lagos and made available to Maritime Bits, it stated that while a-seven member BoT was appointed, reflecting professional diversity and capacity of the women from across public and private sectors; an-eleven member Governing Council was rejigged to birth what it called “dynamism, creativity and drive” for transformation and actualization of diversity, equality and inclusion (DEI) policy across sectors.
Signed by its Acting Executive Secretary, Chinwe Okafor-Mefor, it listed members of the BoT as Chief (Mrs.) Chinwe Ezenwa, Chairperson; Mrs. Mfon Usoro, Vice-Chairperson; Hajia Lami Tumaka; Engr. Janet Adeyemi; Hajia Aisha Ali-Ibrahim; Mrs. Chinwendu Anaroke; and Mr. Kingsley Anaroke.
Similarly, its Governing Council is chaired by Ambassador (Dr.) Kema Chikwe; Mrs. Augustina Igbokwe, Vice Chairperson; Mrs. Yetunde Akinluyi; Ms. Sylvia Asana Dauda; Mrs. Jean Chiazor Anishere, SAN; Mrs. Ihuoma Onyearugha; Mrs. Hauwa Audu; Chief (Mrs.) Carol Ufere; Hajia Rabi Musa Saulawa; Dr. Lucy Newman; and Mrs. Augustina Kenechukwu.
According to the statement, the Steering Committee for MMS Amazons is chaired by Mrs. Gloria Kanabe; Mrs. Bunmi Falana, Vice Cchairperson; Dr. Hope Afoke Orivri; Assistant Comptroller Nkeiru Nwala; Mrs. Olufunmilayo Olotu;Mrs. Blessing Osakwe -Ogo and Mrs. Juliana Saka.
“As we re-strategize to reposition the NGO for greater impact in the society, their expertise and passion for social impact align perfectly with our mission,and we believe their contributions will be invaluable in shaping the organization’s future to activate and crystallize dreams and visions of women with the burden of change.
“We are really excited about the quality of members across the three bodies. These are women with proven records of performance and impeccable integrity. As we strive to break barriers for more opportunities to close the gender inequality gap, the challenges ahead demands inclusive leadership to meet the sustainability threshold and impact the society positively”, it added.
Maritime Bits checks revealed that MMS WoFHoF Initiative is a gender-inclusive-centric NGO with leadership, capacity building and role-modeling as key areas of preoccupation. Over the years, it has trained and mentored over 3000 women and men in various professional and career needs as well as dispensed grants to some micro and small businesses.
It has over the years, inducted and recognized no fewer than 100 women of substance and distinguished personalities of worth.
The NGO was founded in 2012 to amplify women voices and break boundaries of bias.
