The umbrella body of journalists covering the maritime sector of the economy, the Maritime Reporters Association of Nigeria (MARAN) has organised a prayer session to herald the Yuletide and thank God for the strides the association has made since the begining of the year.

The event which took place recently at its secretariat at Apapa GRA, Lagos was also used to wine and dine as the members took turns to dance.

Speaking at the occasion, the President of MARAN, Mr. Godfrey Bivbere  acknowledged that the association has had a good run in the year 2024, just as he enumerated the heights attained by members through the help of God and maritime stakeholders.

According to him, the event which coincided with the December 2024 congress of the association was organized to express gratitude to God for His blessings in protecting the members throughout year 2024 and for elevating MARAN to a new height.

He stated that as the fourth estate of the realm and critical stakeholder in the marine and blue economy, MARAN cannot afford to do less.

He charged members to double their efforts for the year 2025 and ensure growth of the sector through what he called ‘developmental journalism’.

The highpoint of the occasion was a session of prayers led by a Lagos base clergy, Pastor Ezekiel Vincent for members of MARAN and their loved ones.

Vincent commended MARAN for acknowledging God for taking the association to where it is today, stressing that thanksgiving is a key to the opening of future opportunities.
