The Maritime Arbitrators Association of Nigeria (MAAN) has gotten a new set of executives to run its affairs in the next three years. With the emergence of the new executives which has Chief Jean Chiazor Anishere, SAN as its President, the tenure of the former executives led by Barrister Bodunrin Adewole has formally come to an end.
Other elected officials of MAAN which was established two decades ago were Sir Osuala Nwagbara, Vice President; Mrs. Foluke Akinmoladun, Secretary; and Chief Ben Onwunma, Treasurer.
The election of the new executives was the highpoint of MAAN annual general meeting (AGM) which took place yesterday in Lagos. The AGM also marked its 20th anniversary since its establishment with the election of Mrs. Adedoyin Rhodes-Vivour, SAN as its pioneer President.
Not a few members of the association attended the AGM including Mrs. Rhodes-Vivour, SAN; and the Chairman of the Advisory Board, Hon. Justice E. O. Sanyaolu (retired).
Members of the Advisory Board who attended the AGM were Mr. Chidi Ilogu SAN; immediate past President, Mr. Bodunrin Adewole; former Director General, Nigeria Chamber of Shipping (NCS), Mrs. Ify Akerele; former President, Dr. Omogbai Omo-eboh, SAN; Director of Marine and Blue Economy, Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Mrs. Nneka Obiayor; and the immediate past Treasurer, Mrs. Oluseyi Adejuyigbe.
Maritime Bits checks revealed that MAAN aims, amongst other objectives, to advance and encourage professional knowledge of maritime arbitration in Nigeria and to ensure the development of the country as a resource for arbitration in dispute resolution.
