The new President of the Maritime Arbitrators Association of Nigeria (MAAN), Chief Jean Chiazor Anishere, SAN has called for the support of members of the association to enable her deliver on her mandate.
Anishere who stated this in her inaugural speech shortly after her election as the new helmsman of the association in Lagos recently specifically solicited for the support of her predecessors in office to enable her succeed in office.
Her words: “I stand before you today deeply honoured by the trust you have placed in me to serve as President of the Maritime Arbitrators Association of Nigeria. I accept this responsibility with humility and a firm commitment to advance the values of excellence, integrity, and professionalism that define our Association.
“I ask for your support, your ideas, and your partnership. This is a collective mandate, and together we will steer MAAN to greater relevance and renewed impact.”
Anishere who has been a member of the association from the onset and has served in several positions including the Vice President in the immediate past administration led by Mr. Bodunrin Adewole paid tributes to her predecessors for their efforts in bringing MAAN to its present enviable height.
“I pay tribute to our past presidents whose dedication has brought MAAN to its respected position. We are beneficiaries of their hard work and today we continue the journey they began”, she said.
The MAAN President also used her inaugural speech to enumerate what she intends to attain in her administration in the next three years.
Her words: “As we look ahead, my administration will focus on strengthening our professional capacity, increase membership and expand our visibility at the regional and international levels. We will deepen collaboration with key industry stakeholders and reinforce the ethical standards that underpin credible maritime arbitration.
“Nigeria’s maritime sector is central to our national and continental economy, and MAAN has a vital role to play in ensuring that disputes are resolved efficiently, impartially, and in line with global best practices. Together, we will position Nigeria as a leading hub for maritime arbitration in Africa”.
Maritime Bits had reported that the election of a new set of executives for the association was one of the highpoints of the MAAN annual general meeting (AGM) which took place in Lagos recently.
Members of the association including students from Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) and the University of Lagos (UNILAG) attended the event.
