The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) has donated education and teacher enhancement tools to Ugbuwangue Secondary School in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State as part of its drive for improved learning environment in oil-producing rural communities under its Back-to-the-Creeks Initiative.

Among items donated were tablet computers, staff desks and chairs, white boards and markers, school bags, books and pens, in addition to certification scholarships.

NCDMB Executive Secretary, Engr. Felix Omatsola Ogbe said the initiative was aimed at equipping teachers and students to improve classroom delivery and create a more effective learning environment for children.

Ogbe who was represented by NCDMB Assistant Manager, Institutional Relations and Entrepreneurship Development (IRED), Ms. Khadija Jekhine,She said the NCDMB recognises that education and human capacity development are critical to sustainable national growth, and that supporting teachers is an investment in the future because “well-equipped teachers are better positioned to inspire, educate, and prepare the next generation.”

The NCDMB helmsman encouraged all beneficiaries to use the resources donated responsibly and effectively. 

According to him, we appreciate our teachers for their dedication and commitment to educating our children. NCDMB remains committed to the Initiative as it promotes capacity building and Nigerian human capital.

Also speaking, the Principal of Ugbuwangue Secondary School, Ms. Morrison Merit Jemiyotan expressed profound appreciation to NCDMB and all partners associated with the donations for “choosing to invest in the education and development” of Nigerian children.

“Education, as we all know,” she noted, “is one of the most powerful instruments for transforming individuals, strengthening communities, and building a prosperous nation.”

According to Jemiyotan, quality education is enhanced when teachers and students have access to the appropriate tools, resources and learning environment. The provision of the teaching enhancement tools would make a meaningful difference in classrooms and support teachers in delivering their lessons.

She enjoined the teaching staff to continue to embrace innovative teaching methods and create an environment where every student is encouraged to learn.

In her remarks, the Head Girl of the school, Miss Edogun-Itse Blessing Afiangbe, said the students were happy for the improved learning environment.

“We are very grateful to NCDMB for what they have just done,” she declared, adding, “NCDMB has brightened the future of our students.”

Maritime Bits checks revealed that Back-to-the-Creeks is an initiative of NCDMB aimed at grassroots development in oil-producing rural communities through promotion of education and digital learning, with upgrade of school facilities and teacher support as areas of particular interest.

It was gathered that Ugbuwangue Secondary School is the latest of several primary and secondary schools in oil-producing states that have benefitted from the initiative
