The Ports Authority Police has joined forces with Chinese Consulate in order to attain set goals and objectives.
To this end, the Commissioner of Police, Ports Authority Police (Western) Command, CP Oluwatoyin Iyabode Agbaminoja has paid a courtesy visit to the Chinese Consulate in Lagos recently.
The visit was said to be part of ongoing efforts to strengthen collaboration between the Nigeria Police Force and the Chinese business community operating within Nigeria’s maritime sector.
A statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer Ports Authority Police Command, Apapa, Lagos, ASP Isaac Hundeyin stated that Agbaminoja was warmly received by the Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Lagos, Yan Yuqing.
The statement which was made available to Maritime Bits disclosed that Yuqing welcomed the initiative and reaffirmed the importance of sustained engagement between both institutions.
Hundeyin quoted Agbaminoja engaging in fruitful discussions with the Consul General and other officials of the Chinese Consulate on issues of mutual interest, particularly those relating to port security, maritime security, and the safety of Chinese nationals and businesses operating within Nigeria’s seaports and logistics corridors.
Agbaminoja reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to ensuring a secure and conducive environment for legitimate business activities within the ports.
She emphasized that the command remains steadfast in its mandate to safeguard critical maritime infrastructure, prevent criminal activities, and enhance the overall security architecture of the nation’s ports.
Discussions also focused on strengthening information sharing, capacity building, and addressing emerging security concerns that may impact trade facilitation and maritime commerce.
Yuqing expressed appreciation for the efforts of the Nigeria Police Force, particularly the Ports Authority Police (Western) Command, in ensuring the safety and security of port users, Chinese nationals, and foreign investors.
She reiterated the Consulate’s commitment to continued collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force in promoting peace, security, and economic development.
The Police Chief averred that the command remains dedicated to working with all stakeholders to ensure that Nigeria’s ports remain safe, secure, and globally competitive gateways for international trade.
