Did you eat any fruit this week?
If yes, you are doing well. But if you did not and your excuse is that fruits are expensive plus you do not even know which one to eat, here are five simple fruits that promote a healthy lifestyle:
· Banana: This one satisfies you at once. It is rich in potassium and supports smooth digestion. You can eat it with rice, groundnuts or alone. If you bargain well, a good bunch should be between N800 – N1500.
· Avocado: When I was younger, I always thought it was a type of butter and I still use it as a spread for bread till today. Avocados possess anti-inflammatory properties that reduces oxidative stress and prevents skin damage. Costs between N500 – N800.
· Apple: It is packed with Vitamins A and C that caters to skin issues, high in fiber for better digestion and supports stable blood sugar levels. Eat whole, juice it or add it to your smoothie. Its price range is between N300 – N500 and do not forget “an apple a day keeps the doctor away”.
· Watermelon: As the name implies, it is full of water just that it is pink in color. Eating watermelon regularly means your skin will feel hydrated, soft, and supple and I know you will love that. It is rich in fiber and contains Vitamins A, B and C. It costs between N2000 – N3000.
· Pineapple: I call this one yellow sugar. It is rich in Vitamin A, C and K. It aids digestion, supports skin health and for the girlies, helps with period pain. To elevate this fruit, add it to fried rice and you have pineapple fried rice. You should try it. Pineapples cost between N800 – N1500.
Healthy lifestyle is not hard. Grab one fruit today and enjoy!
