The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Murtala Muhammed Area Command (MMAC), Ikeja, Lagos has surpassed its 2025 revenue target.
The outgoing Customs Area Controller (CAC), MMAC, Comptroller Michael Toyin Awe announced this in a press briefing in Lagos recently.
He disclosed that the command rake in a staggering ₦179.91 billion revenue generation.
This amount surpassed its annual target and outperforming the previous year’s figures by over 9%.
Other highlights of the command made public by Awe include seizures worth ₦7.2 billion, including contraband and other prohibited items in the Import Prohibition List (IPL) and the Export Prohibition List (EPL).
Also seized were Colorado, Cannabis Sativa, unregistered pharmaceuticals, pangolin scales, elephant tusks, Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) uniforms, tactical communication equipment as well as 523 signed foreign bank cheques.
The Customs Chief also revealed that stakeholders’ engagements within the period under review improved relationships with licensed customs agents, partner agencies, and traders.
While commending the Comptroller of Customs (CGC), Dr. Bashir Adewale Adeniyi for his guidance, the CAC attributed MMAC strides to its culture of integrity, accuracy, and vigilance, as well as strategic collaboration and intelligence-driven enforcement.
He also praised the officers and men of MMAC for what he called “their dedication and professionalism” in the discharge of their statutory roles and responsibilities.
According to him, MMAC achievements demonstrate its commitment to protecting Nigeria’s borders and upholding NCS values of integrity, discipline, and excellence.
