President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has hailed the election of the Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho as the Vice President (Africa), International Association of Ports and Harbours (IAPH).
Maritime Bits checks reveals that the NPA helmsman is joining the management team of IAPH for a two-year term of office.
It is on record that the 70-year-old global association serves as the voice for seaports worldwide and will mark its anniversary on October 7 in Kobe, Japan.
Apparently pleased with the development, Tinubu in a statement signed by his Special Adviser, Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga hailed members of the IAPH for the confidence reposed in Dantsoho by entrusting him with the position, just as they did in 2017 when the then Managing Director of NPA, Ms. Hadiza Bala Usman was also similarly elected.
According to the statement which was obtained by Maritime Bits, Tinubu believes that the election of the NPA Managing Director will boost Nigeria’s ambition to tap into the global marine and blue economy.
“The President encourages Dantsoho to continue his efforts to reposition the NPA, thereby contributing to Nigeria’s goal of expanding its economy to $1 trillion by 2030”, the statement added.
